Fitto, Tajani, Salvini, Calderone, Foti, Musumeci, Pichetto Fratin, and Zangrillo: "La Piazza" returns to Puglia for its eighth edition.

The event " La Piazza – Il Bene Comune" (The Common Good) once again sparks political and cultural debate in the country. The eighth edition, titled " La Piazza fa rumore ," scheduled for August 28th to 30th, promises to be the most comprehensive yet: key figures from Italian and European politics will take the stage in Piazza del Plebiscito, alongside prominent figures from national journalism.
One of the new features of the 2025 edition will be the presence of two leading figures in Italian journalism: Paolo Mieli , a renowned essayist and editorialist, and Francesco Giorgino , a longtime figure on TG1 and a university professor. Together with the director of Affaritaliani, Marco Scotti , and journalist Barbara Politi , they will create a critical and diverse narrative of current political, social, and economic events. This decisive shift in direction further elevates the event's profile and strengthens its role as a privileged observatory on the dynamics of power.
" We are thrilled with this new direction ," comments Marcello Antelmi , President of the La Piazza Association and Editor of Affaritaliani, " which sees the arrival of authoritative figures such as Paolo Mieli and Francesco Giorgino on stage. This is a leap in editorial quality that consolidates La Piazza as a space for open, credible debate, deeply rooted in issues of collective interest. We want to offer the public an increasingly institutional event, rich in content and thought. As every year, La Piazza focuses on the younger generations, who this year will be even more central to the event with the participation of young representatives of the major political parties. "
The handover of the leadership of Affaritaliani also marks a symbolic moment. " Receiving the baton from Angelo Maria Perrino is an honor and a great responsibility for me ," says Marco Scotti, Director of Affaritaliani. "The Piazza represents the ideal place to build vibrant information, one that analyzes rather than chases controversy, one that doesn't settle for appearances but delves into the substance. Being part of this new phase is a source of great personal and professional excitement ."
Speakers on the stage will include Raffaele Fitto , Vice-President of the European Commission and a key figure in cohesion policies ; Deputy Prime Ministers Antonio Tajani and Matteo Salvini ; Maria Elvira Calderone , Minister of Labor; Tommaso Foti , Minister for European Affairs, Southern Italy and Cohesion Policies for the PNRR; Nello Musumeci, Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies; Paolo Zangrillo, Minister for Public Administration; Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Minister for the Environment and Energy Security; Michele Emiliano , President of the Puglia Region; Marcello Gemmato , Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Health; Alessandro Morelli, Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council; Giovanni Donzelli , National Head of the Fratelli d'Italia organization ; Antonio Decaro , President of the ENVI Commission at the European Parliament; Matteo Renzi , President of Italia Viva; Carlo Calenda , founder of Azione, and Giosy Romano , coordinator of the ZES mission structure. Speakers will include Gabriele Fava, President of INPS , Marco Mezzaroma , President of Sport and Health, and Gianpiero Strisciuglio , CEO of Trenitalia.
Also expected are Giuseppe Conte, Andrea Orlando, Antonella Sberna, and Ettore Prandini , along with the young leaders of the main parties. This lineup guarantees a close, direct, and unmediated debate, in true La Piazza style.
The preview of the event, in collaboration with the Fiorio Cup, on August 27th will launch the first edition of the La Piazza Award , which will celebrate two emblematic figures of Italy's creative spirit: Angelo Maria Perrino , for a life dedicated to free information, and Cesare Fiorio , a racing legend and honorary citizen of Ceglie Messapica. A road safety course will also be offered to 20 young people in memory of Federica Annese, a road accident victim.

With a participation that promises to be record-breaking, both in person and in streaming, La Piazza – Il Bene Comune confirms and relaunches its mission: to be the place where we listen to each other, discuss and question ourselves, establishing itself as the most important Piazza in Italy with a special focus on the new generations, the true driving force of the country that will be
